About My Clients
I work with parents to help them understand how to connect with their children, parent them according to the needs of their particular brains, and reduce drama within their homes. I also work with parents of children who are expressing they are not the gender they were assigned at birth, helping parents understand how to navigate this with their children. I also provide individual therapy for children and young adults to help them live happier, healthier lives.
My Background and Approach
I use a combination of parenting methods, including mindfulness, brain science, and Collaborative Problem Solving to support parents. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy techniques and Family Systems theory to shape my work with families.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I strongly believe in and work for social justice. I am especially focused on the needs of children and families, including refuges and immigrants. Racial justice is also very important in my life. As the white parent of black children, I find myself as both benefiting from white privilege and the mother of people impacted by institutionalized racism. I have had a long parenting journey, trying many different methods with my own children and I want to share the knowledge I've gained with others on the journey.
