About My Clients
I am open to working with anyone who wants to explore their inner world and deepen their sense of self-knowledge! I support my clients with depression, anxiety, self doubt/self esteem issues, relational conflicts, childhood wounding, existential angst, questions about identity, struggles with belonging/a sense of isolation, adjustment difficulties, trauma history, or a desire to understand neurodiversity/unique sensitivities.
My Background and Approach
I received my MA in Marriage, Couple and Family Theapy from Lewis & Clark in 2017. Until 2019 I worked with international refugees and Medicaid recipients at Lutheran Community Services NW where I gained valuable experience working with a rich multidisciplinary and multicultural team. I supported individuals, couples, and families struggling with cultural adjustment, the impacts of trauma, challenging life circumstances, and mental illness. From 2019-2023 I moved to rural Japan where I started a private practice serving English speaking Japanese nationals and expats (individuals and couples) from all over the world. The core theme of my work has been reaching across cultural and language barriers to help people understand themselves more deeply, create a sense of safety and belonging in the world, and communicate better with those around them. I do this with a sense of curiosity, humility, and openness to the expansiveness of the human experience.
My Values as a Therapist
I believe deeply that all people are capable of growth and healing in the right environment. My goal as a therapist is to create a space together with you that allows for the right amount of safety and challenge to allow for that growth. Together we will shine a light on areas that may be difficult to explore alone- childhood wounding, unhelpful patterns, buried needs, cut-off identities. I will support you in facing yourself with compassion and curiosity. Through this self-knowledge I believe we can learn to take responsibility for our choices, relate to others more openly and honestly, and create a life with meaning. My job is not to define that life for you, but to help you discover it for yourself.
