About My Clients
I like to work with teens and young adults. I enjoy doing play therapy with clients of all ages, including adults. I have particular training and expertise in working with the LGBTQ+ community and supporting those clients and their families. I strive to create a warm and welcoming environment for all of my clients. If you are struggling with depression, anxiety, identity issues or recovering from grief and trauma then I am a therapist who is suited to your needs.
My Background and Approach
I have worked in the mental health field for the past 10 years in a variety of settings. I have worked in a psychiatric hospital, an elementary school, the division of youth corrections, a community mental health agency, and now in private practice. I earned my Master's Degree in clinical mental health counseling from Regis University in 2016. My approach is heavily focused on client centered counseling- that is the belief that the most important factor in any type of therapy is the relationship between the client and the counselor. I use many modalities including play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, family therapy, and other approaches in my work, as well as my sense of humor.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Creating a better world and a healthier planet for our future is important to me. I have been volunteering with and advocating for the LGBTQ+ community for the past 22 years and working with marginalized populations is an important part of my practice and humanity. I am an animal lover and a person who believes in the power of peace.
