About My Clients
I offer telehealth counseling services to diverse client populations experiencing a host of challenges. One of the primary populations I treat is young adults experiencing difficulty with major life transitions, relationships, and future-planning concerns. Additionally, I have enjoyed my work treating couples, especially those with a history of substance abuse in one or more partners. I'm proud to offer an inclusive space for clients regardless of identity or background.
My Background and Approach
I take a developmental approach to counseling and work collaboratively with my clients to establish a plan to address and meet their goals. I have experience in both private practice and in-patient mental health treatment with comfort treating mild to severe mental health concerns. My primary passion is offering accessible treatment to clients seeking measurable results in their life. I focus on the integration of techniques from many theories to personalize counseling for each client. Life can be uncertain and challenging at times and having an advocate work with you to find and help you meet your fullest potential can make a huge difference. I'm here for you. I believe what happens between sessions is just as important as what takes place in session. I will, at times, offer "homework" for my clients to work on at home to help further the therapeutic process. I also am a fan of offering outside resources which may be beneficial to my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is really special to have someone come to your office and trust you with some of the most personal and private details of your life. It is such an honor to bear witness to people’s pain, and joy, their failures, and successes…There is honestly nothing more rewarding to me than watching someone’s life change and get better. To have a client who was so down and out and hopeless when they first came to you sort of suddenly regain control of their life and like living again. It feels like I regularly get to witness miracles. One of my most rewarding clinical experiences was to work with a woman of color who in one of our first sessions disclosed to me that she did not like white people. Through compassion and empathy she came to trust me and our work together remains special to me to this day. I believe who you are is important and every aspect of a client's identity should be seen, heard, understood, and validated.
