About My Clients
Have you realized that certain painful patterns keep repeating in your relationships and your life, but you aren't sure how to go about changing them? Often, knowing what needs to change and actually enacting change can feel really daunting. I get it, and that's where I come in. I work with clients who are motivated to make deep, lasting, transformational shifts in their lives. Therapy helps you to understand and heal old patterns so that you can move toward the life you really want.
My Background and Approach
I offer an integrative psychotherapy approach in which we work together to understand the impacts of your past, shift patterns in the present, and help you move toward what you want in the future. In my work with individuals and couples, we attend to you as a whole person: your thoughts, behaviors, emotions, relationships, and somatic experiences. Although listening and empathizing is a big part of what I do, good therapy is more than just that. I will ask you questions (sometimes hard ones), invite you to take a deep look at yourself and the world around you, and support you in trying new ways of relating to yourself and others. I cultivate a collaborative and compassionate relationship with my clients so that together, we can take an honest look at what is and isn't working in your life and help you to grow and change in the ways that you would like.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is my deepest belief that mental health issues are not the result of any flaw, failing, or inherent brokenness in people. I have found that what ends up being labeled as a mental health condition is often a normal and understandable response to painful life events, societal dysfunction, and systematic oppression. When a client walks through my door, I am not asking myself what is wrong with them; rather, I am asking myself what has happened in their life and in their world that has led to this point. Therefore, I strongly embrace and strive to embody the values of compassion, non-judgement, cultural humility, and equality. We are living in a time where many of us feel increasingly disconnected from ourselves, each other, our communities, and the natural world. I believe that therapy is a path not only to healing ourselves as individuals, but to healing our families, communities, societies, and even the world.
