About My Clients
Did you just have a baby, or have a toddler, a special needs child or other children at home and feel overwhelmed and/or anxious? Is being a parent a lot harder than you expected? I agree, it is the hardest thing I've ever done! I have a passion for working with postpartum parents as well as those with young children (biological, foster, and adoptive). I work with trauma, anxiety, depression, and a variety of parenting challenges. I also love working with children of all ages!
My Background and Approach
I have over 20 years of experience working with children and families. In the past few years I have focused on individual therapy, working with either the parent or the child doing virtual therapy. I have specialized training in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Perinatal (pre-and postpartum) mood disorders. I have training and experience in maternal mental health, somatic therapy, attachment, trauma, mind-body connections, nature, play, and cognitive/behavior therapies. I also have education and experience with a variety of parent education programs including Circle of Security, The Incredible Years, and Growing Great Kids. I get to know each client and draw from these various modalities to best cater to each individual. I love building relationships with others and together discover what works for each client to be the best version of themselves. Feel free to give me a call, text or email and we can chat and see if I would be a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that anyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. We are all a product of our environment or how we were raised, combined with the genetics passed down to us. I like to help individuals understand where there patterns have come from, and change what they want to change. When we become parents, the way we were parented and how we felt as children comes to the surface. I love exploring this with parents and helping them parent how they want to. I believe that naming and understanding our emotions is the first step in helping to regulate them. I use the phrase "name it to tame it" with both children and adults. With the right tools, I believe that anyone can feel better and lead the kind of life they want to lead. I also believe that having fun and finding joy in life is a key to decreasing anxiety, depression, and life's stressors. I would love to work with you or your child if you think we would be a good fit. Give me a call, text or email for a free consultation.
