About My Clients

If you feel weighed down by your past, if you are becoming more isolated, and you don't look forward to sleep, I would be honored to witness your healing journey. I work with people in volatile or abusive relationships, and with people who have experienced sexual abuse/violence or a chaotic/unloving home environment. Even it you don’t identify your experience as traumatic or abusive, you may be tired of being called “too sensitive”, tired of feeling like you’re not good enough or a fraud.

My Background and Approach

I am trained in EMDR, an evidence-based therapy developed to treat PTSD, but also effective for a variety of concerns. I am also a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner-in-training, a body-oriented modality for working with trauma. I work with a feminist orientation, honoring you as the expert in the room, working hard to understand your story and the unique way that you experience the world, and aiming to empower you both inside and outside the therapy room. Being trauma-informed means I try to understand your experiences from your point-of-view, and honor all the ways you found to survive and make it through to today. Healing is so much more than telling your story - it is about becoming aware of the ways you disconnect from painful emotions, learning to tolerate your distress in a safe environment, reconnecting with others, and feeling safe in your body.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that trauma is more than life-threatening experiences, it is the imprint all difficult experiences leave on our mind and bodies. It is feeling alone and helpless in the face of something that is overwhelming or beyond our control. I believe that trauma impacts everybody and we all deserve a safe place to heal. It can also be ongoing and impact certain communities to a greater degree through marginalization and discrimination.
