About My Clients

Are you ready to take make yourself a priority? Has your caring nature led you to neglect your own needs and wants? Most of my clients have a history of trauma, marginalized identities, and/or internalized narratives that have led them to survive in ways that no longer serve them very well. It is hard to live intentionally but when we do our world can change from one of stuckness to one of opportunity!

My Background and Approach

No matter the struggles you’re facing; you're the expert of your experience. I provide a safe, curious, and empowering space for you to try out new ways of approaching your strengths and struggles but you'll be leading the work by acknowledging what does and doesn't work for you. I’ll meet you where you're at as we build the skills you’ll need to face topics which might feel scary or heavy. You'll gain new ideas and alternative ways of tackling difficulties while increasing your confidence and your access to your own personal wisdom and insight. I integrate attachment theory, existential-phenomenological counseling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, narrative therapy, and Internal Family Systems into my approach. While these inform my practice, I rely most on being engaged with the present moment. Counseling is a relational experience and so we will spontaneously co-create and space to safely and creatively work with the issues most present.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe we are always in a state of becoming, that our histories don't define us but support us, and that we are capable of directing the course of our lives even amidst the obstacles present in our world. As a queer therapist and liberationist, I actively support, professionally and personally, the abolishment of oppressive systems. Ways that I support these efforts include providing free access to assessment and letter writing required by insurance companies for trans and gender expansive folks to receive gender affirming medical care; making regular contributions to grassroots organizations advocating for racial equity, environmental protection, disability access, and other areas of social/political change; and being open and authentic about my beliefs. These issues/topics may not be explicitly focused on in our work together but the impact of internalized, systemic, and endemic forms of oppression on your life and choices will likely be at least a part of the discussion.
