My Background and Approach
It can be very distressing and debilitating to struggle with an anxiety disorder as well as face anxiety on a daily basis; however the right type of treatment can help you manage your symptoms. My therapy approach integrates different therapeutic models which are evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness based Cognitive Therapy (CT). Cognitive behavioral therapy is structured and goal oriented as well as the gold standard treatment for OCD.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I bring warmth, compassion, and authenticity to my practice. I believe that the therapeutic alliance you have with your therapist is one of the strongest predictors of successful treatment. In addition, I believe the most important ingredients of the therapeutic relationship are building on empathy, trust, self-compassion and a non-judgmental stance. It takes a lot of courage and bravery to start therapy, and I believe that individuals who take the first step of beginning therapy have the willingness and capacity for change by learning the skills to manage their anxiety and live a more meaningful life.
