About My Clients
Life can be complicated and challenging at times. Have you ever experienced depression, anxiety, trauma, post-traumatic stress, relationship conflicts, job-related issues, or substance abuse? My role is to help clients identify and resolve such issues so they can make the changes they desire in their lives. I work to build a trusting therapeutic relationship with clients and create a safe space for sharing. My clientele includes women, men, adolescents, couples, active military, and veterans.
My Background and Approach
My experience is compromised of over 20 years of work as a social worker and therapist. I have worked for the department of social services, the public school system, and non-profit agencies in both Maryland and Washington, DC. This has provided me the opportunity and work with people in various settings with a range of challenges. I started working as a therapist in 2012 at a large group practice before opening Assurance Therapeutic Services, LLC in 2020. I believe therapy is an individualized process as we all have a journey in life and at times need assistance. Our wants, needs, challenges, desires, and goals are different. My approach as a therapist is to listen to my clients about their life experiences and help them resolve issues that will help them to move forward. Some techniques that I have found to be helpful to clients include restructuring negative thoughts and beliefs, reducing negative self-talk, building self-esteem, and using assertive communication skills.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people have the ability to change and live a life that is bigger than a problem or past life experience. I believe therapy is a collaborative process, and my role is to provide an individualized therapeutic service. I do not believe therapy is "one size fits all". I enjoy working with people and helping them to create meaningful changes in their life. I provide services that are clinically sound, inclusive and cultural competent with an awareness of the diverse world we live in.
