My Background and Approach
I specialize in restoring peace within the mind and body and (re)awakening the best version of folx after trauma, anxiety, or significant transitions have disrupted life. People who work with me often remark about feeling seen and understood. They find benefit from my use of personalized analogies, expertise regarding resources, and ability to help them find relief from their struggles and empathy for themselves. Your body is wise. Through emotions and physical sensations we get information from our body about what we need. This is why I incorporate the science of the brain/body connection and the healing practices I use center the wisdom of your heart, mind, and body. I know that healing looks different for each person. Therefore, in addition to providing traditional talk therapy, I also am trained in EMDR, utilize an eclectic, integrative, and creative based approach.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I became a therapist because math was too hard ... and I fell in love with my psychology classes, believe people are important, and I have a gift for being able to truly see people. I am also drawn to this field because I am incredibly fascinated by the way our brains work and the interconnection with the body. I am passionate about social justice and I believe that every human deserves to be seen, heard, and know they matter. There is a lot of pain in our world and a lot of messaging about how we "should" or should not experience and share our emotions. Each person who is able to get what they need to be healthy makes our world healthier and happier. The first and every experience with mental health providers matters and influences what support people will be able to receive. I strive to be a therapist who creates a welcoming and quality experience for folx.
