About My Clients
In my practice in West Hollywood, I specialize in treating members of the LGBTQ community and those struggling with substance use. Overall, I work from a trauma-informed lens—examining how overt and covert traumas have impacted one’s development and personality.
My Background and Approach
I began my clinical work studying psychoanalysis at Valley Community Counseling Clinic. I also gained clinical experience treating sexual compulsivity at the Center for Healthy Sex and working with adolescents at Evolve Treatment. Most recently, I spent two years working at La Fuente Hollywood Treatment Center—one of the few exclusively LGBTQ+ dual-diagnosis treatment facilities in the country. I have specialized experience treating those who struggle with “chem-sex”—the addictive process of using substances to heighten sexual arousal. I also have extensive experience working with transgender, gender fluid and non-binary clients. Michael will be part of the EOS program at The Camden Center, providing affirmative psychotherapy to clients who identify as LGBTQ+.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Anyone can give advice. In my experience, clients come to therapy looking for something they cannot get anywhere else. Usually they are struggling with anxiety, depression, or some other issue, that they have not been able to solve on their own. How can therapy help? I believe that we heal through relationship—not in isolation. So rather than providing a list of pre-scripted tools, I strive to develop real, authentic connections with my clients. Beyond looking for relief from troubling symptoms, my goal is to help you resolve underlying conflicts that interfere with your life today.
