About My Clients
Michela is passionate about helping couples reconnect and strength their relationship by understanding patterns of codependency, trauma and avoidance of vulnerability. Her background includes work in neuroscience and trauma processing with adult women which she often ties into her work with couples. Her ideal clients are motivated to understand themselves more deeply and enjoy a direct, yet gentle, approach to counseling.
My Background and Approach
Michela's background includes experience working with community mental health, victims of human trafficking, animal assisted therapy (you may see her therapy dog, Siena, in some of your sessions!) and PTSD in women. More recently she has become passionate about a multi-modal approach to counseling that pulls from experience working at a large neurofeedback clinic overseeing 300+ client programs daily. Michela pulls from inner child work, CBT, narrative work and motivational interviewing to work with couples on all aspects of their relationship. She believes that no topic should be off the table in counseling and the more we can find vulnerability within ourselves the more we can relate to our partner with the kind of love we'd like to receive as well.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Michela believes in a multi-modal approach to mental healing. Not only is talking in counseling a crucial part of understanding yourself, but an outlet for your body (somatic work, exercise), healthy relationships, getting adequate time outside, sleep...the list goes on...are all pieces of the puzzle that we take into consideration. As someone who has always been innately curious about the human experience, I feel strongly about the power of relationships to heal historical trauma. Helping others hold themselves gently and feel empowered to speak their truth in a safe space is when my work with clients thrives.
