You should be your biggest cheerleader! If you do not root for yourself, then who will? Self-esteem refers to how we view ourselves. I work with my clients to find what is good about them and expand on it. When we see our strengths, we are more confident in ourselves. Self affirmations are used in conjunction with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy coping strategies to remind you of how powerful you are.
Depression can negatively affect your quality of life by affecting how you feel and think. I work with my clients to identify triggers that lead to depression while focusing on what makes the client happy. Finding purpose and looking deeper into one's self can provide meaning into life. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy can help my clients feel better and cope with life's day to day stressors.
Anxiety is a feeling of dread or uneasiness. It can cause restlessness and a mind that is in a constant state of "What If". When working with my clients suffering from anxiety, we focus on what is in our control and how to handle what is out of our control with a realm of influence. It allows fears to calm because we talk about the "worst case scenario" and formulate plans if it comes to fruition. This allows my clients to take their power back and live a life free of anxiety.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is like using the destination map in your car. If you go to a place you always visit (negativity), it will drive there on its own. However, if you want to go somewhere new (positivity) you will have to train your brain to take a different path. That is how CBT works! We will work together to change how you think and see the positive in life. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade.
Solution Focused Brief Therapy is when you concentrate on finding solutions in the present and explore options in life regarding the question you have. This approach allows my clients to focus more on the direction of the treatment as opposed to the why. With the appropriate questions, my clients are able to find the best solutions that work for them.
Person-centered therapy allows the client to take more of a lead in sessions so they can discover their own solutions. Each person is different, and their view of their world has to allow them to manage it. The idea of self-actualization allows them to find the best solutions and make the appropriate changes in their lives.
