CBT is research-proven to provide results. We will work together to identify your negative thoughts that contribute to depressed mood, anxiety, and difficulty in relationships. We will label those thoughts and actively work together to reframe those thoughts from being judgmental and harmful to thoughts that offer you hope, positivity, and acceptance.
Through my own experiences of feeling "different" or as an "outsider," I strive to accept people of all cultures. I seek to learn about other cultures, and hope to listen and understand your experiences, whether they are related to culture or not. I provide you with a safe space to share your experiences and hopes and provide you with tools to heal the hurt that you may be experiencing.
Your relationship with your therapist is the #1 predictor of a good outcome in therapy. Humanistic therapy focuses primarily on ensuring that you are heard, accepted, and not judged, no matter what it is that you share. I feel that this is the most important thing that a therapist can provide and I strive to do this with every session.
As a first-generation daughter of Middle-Eastern parents, I have experienced the challenges that I, as well as my parents and various family members, have had to face. I understand the feeling of balancing two cultures who are often very different from each other. I understand the frustration of not feeling like your two selves can ever exist as one. I hope to offer you support and understanding and am happy to share my won experiences when they may be helpful.
I have learned first-hand how challenging it is to struggle with getting pregnant, to lose a pregnancy, and to have failed infertility treatments. I am happy to share with you my journey, to provide you with hope and support, or to support you in the process of grieving the hope of a natural or successful pregnancy that you once had. I am happy to offer education regarding infertility, pregnancy loss, or postpartum depression.
The majority of my internship hours were completed by providing Applied Behavioral Analyses (ABA), through Positive Behavioral Support (PBS) to families and caregivers of those with special needs. I trained family members and caregivers on how to best provide support to shape challenging behaviors of their loved one with special needs. I worked with children and adults on the Autism spectrum, as well as a variety of other intellectual disabilities.
