About My Clients
I work with women who are struggling with overwhelming anxiety. Sometimes this includes problems with their relationships, their identity, spiritual issues, eating issues, and grief. My clients often come to me wanting to better themselves, but in a different way than they have been trained. They can achieve, tough it out, and make other people happy, but aren’t really happy themselves. They seem FINE on the outside, but anxiety lingers underneath. They want enjoyment, connection, and to be free
My Background and Approach
I meet with my clients weekly for 50 min sessions. My clients initially have goals for therapy such as reducing symptoms or to have better relationships. What tends to happen is that the focus of therapy goes from wanting to change themselves to gaining a better understanding of who they are and how to work with what they have. My type of therapy can feel like talking to a friend. However, the conversation is only about you. I will reflect what might be going on underneath the surface of your emotions as you explore the deeper parts of yourself and the past. Sometimes I will recommend a book to read, but mainly keep your work in therapy to only the 50 mins of talking each week. My practice is an LGBTQ+ safe space. I also welcome faith as a component of therapy. I also use a HAES and Intuitive Eating approach when addressing issues of eating and body image.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that the relationship between the therapist and client is the most important part of therapy. Week-by-week, we will continue to explore the unconscious motivations and feelings that on the surface look like anxiety. While this can be a very difficult process facing past experiences and what's going on underneath, I believe it is absolutely helpful.
