About My Clients
Are you having trouble feeling in control of your life? Do you feel it is hard to stop avoiding and escaping online? Do you want a greater sense of agency? As an Empowerment and Digital Media Overuse specialist, I am well trained to help you decrease unhealthy ways of coping and find more meaningful ways to move forward in your life. I love helping my clients improve their relationships, set better boundaries, become more assertive, and live a more authentic and meaningful lives.
My Background and Approach
My qualifications and counseling skills cover a wide variety of areas, but are particularly well suited for those who want to become more Empowered (take control of your life) and for those who overuse digital media, (i.e. social media, video games, porn, information, and shopping). Having worked in in the mental health and addiction field for almost a decade, I have the experience and knowledge needed to help you move forward. As your therapist my goal is to help you improve your relationships, starting with the most important relationship of all the one you have with yourself. Personal empowerment covers many areas of mental wellness including managing anxiety, letting go of people-pleasing and codependency traits, as well as integrating more boundaries, assertiveness, and authenticity into your life. Therapy with me is relational and skills-based. I am intentional in balancing my role as both someone who provides support and someone who challenges you to grow.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about helping people become empowered and grow into the best versions of themselves. As a Bahamian American, I was raised with a different relationship to the world and technology than most Americans. From an early age, this gave me a cautious perspective on typical approaches to mental health and the impact digital media was having on our lives, which guided my education and specialized training in the digital media overuse/addiction field. I am committed to maintaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive practice, which serves as a safe harbor for people who identify as LGBTQIA, people of color, and people of the global majority. It is important for me to understand someone’s life narrative to help shift their way of thinking, feeling, and acting to be more congruent with who they want to be. When applicable, I use assessment tools, innovative techniques, and direct clinical/behavioral interventions to help support your goals.
