About My Clients

Most of my clients are in their 30's, 40's, and 50's, often parents, who want to learn healthy self care, better boundaries, and ways to become who they truly want to be as an individual, a parent, a spouse and a friend. Whether you're new to therapy or coming back again to connect more dots, I can help you heal from core emotional issues, build resiliency skills, implement coping strategies, and learn practical tools to decrease anxiety, improve relationships, and create long term change.

My Background and Approach

My approach is collaborative, client-centered and focused on helping you develop the behaviors and mindset to empower yourself to change. I use traditional talk therapy, cognitive behavioral tools, mindfulness and behavior strategies. I can be gently direct at times with the goal of challenging you. I may use humor or just sit with you to help you learn to sit with difficult feelings. I may give you tasks to complete between sessions to keep you focused on your personal goals. I also am a trained facilitator for Sandcastles Divorce groups for children. I have a strong passion for helping kids and parents cope with all the changes and feelings that come with separation and divorce. I often work with parents seeking guidance on talking to their kids about divorce and supporting them during the divorce process. I have worked in outpatient community mental health clinics and with chronic and severe mental illness.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Therapy is work. I know what it feels like to be on both sides of the therapy chair because we all have had life experiences that challenge us. Change is a process, and people often return to therapy at different points in life. You may have an unexpected change or trauma or a "light bulb" or "rock bottom" moment. I believe in helping you "grow your soul". My therapy approach and knowledge comes not only from my formal and continuing education, but from my life experience as a wife, a mother of boys, a sister, a daughter and a friend.
