About My Clients
My approach to therapy is based on mutual appreciation where through openness and acceptance, we can work together on issues and emotional situations that you are going through. I support individuals in learning to heal their own suffering by discovering the gentleness, warmth, intelligence and compassion that is the innate capacity of all human beings. I enjoy helping people on their journey to bring nurturing to their inner life and our world with kindness and awareness.
My Background and Approach
My practice is informed by psychoanalysis, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, self-compassion and Buddhist psychology. I’m fluent in both English and Chinese, and I am familiar with the particular challenges of immigrants and their families. I have also worked with people with experiences of drug addiction, trauma, family conflict, and issues around gender and sexuality. Outside of therapy work, I also work as chaplain at a hospital. I appreciate the power of being present to people’s suffering, and I cultivate awareness and skills to meet vulnerability, grief, illness, and death with dignity and compassion.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value the practices of healing and transformation through fostering loving connection in our lives. For example, I have been facilitating a weekly meditation group for a number of years, and I am committed to creating a healthy and nourishing environment in the community, which is a great source of personal healing and growth. Please feel free to reach out for a free 10-minute phone consultation to see if we would be a good fit. I look forward to meeting you in person or online.
