Hi! I'm Nina. Trusting someone with the unarticulated and unhealed parts inside can feel scary. Thank you for showing up for yourself.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Pasadena, CA
I have been trained and EMDR therapy, this modality is appropriate for complex trauma, multiple traumas, and developmental trauma. Essentially any trauma that mentally, emotionally, and physiologically interrupts daily life. This modality pays attention to how trauma has impacted your neural network, and incorporates somatic experiencing to move through trauma experiences.
This polytheoretical modality incorporates attachment theory, neurobiology, arousal regulation, systems, and cultural sensitivity. PACT is an integrative approach created by Stan Tatkin. I The model is appropriate for couples motivated to establish what is known as secure functioning. Secure functioning hinges on the belief humans are wired for connection. In partnerships, we connect better when we interactively regulate each other and have a shared purpose in the relationship.
Attachment theory was originally created by John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth. When we are born, we come with needs and emotions. As babies, we advocated for our needs and emotions by cuing our primary caregivers. Depending on what response we received—be it attentiveness, responsiveness, denial, dismissal, or neglect—we learned to continue expressing or hide our needs and emotions. We can develop either secure attachment or insecure attachment.
