About My Clients
I provide individual therapy to a diverse range of adult clients, including, but not limited to, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, military personnel, college students, immigrants, refugees, and those who are struggling with addiction and substance use.
My Background and Approach
My mission is to provide a safe and welcoming environment where clients can explore themselves and navigate challenges within their world. All clients possess autonomy and have a right to make decisions most beneficial to their lives. My responsibility is to respect the dignity and promote the welfare of clients. For this reason, I aim to establish a therapeutic alliance rooted in compassion, empathy, empowerment, trust, and authenticity. My approach in counseling is integrated, in which I utilize a variety of interventions and skills from a “toolkit” that I have developed throughout my clinical training and experience. My work is mostly aligned with the influences of Adlerian, existential, narrative, and feminist theories. I foster an egalitarian relationship that acknowledges the expertise and power we both bring into the relationship. I view the client as the expert of their own lives, and I honor that truth by inviting stories to be shared in a nonjudgmental space.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My approach centers on justice, equity, and empowerment. I understand how systems, our environments, and the world significantly influence our self-perception, beliefs, and experiences. I work with a diverse range of adult clients, including, but not limited to, BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+, military personnel, college students, and immigrants/refugees - all marginalized groups that I am also a member of. I believe every client is unique and possesses a background rich in history, upbringing, values, and culture that makes them who they are today. In addition, I acknowledge the impact of external forces and how systems and structures are in place within our society that works against equality and equity. My duty is to provide an opportunity to those who may not have the ability to advocate for themselves. It is my social, moral, and ethical obligation to work for clients on their behalf when they are being oppressed, taken advantage of, or in need.
