My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), with additional certification in trauma work (CTP) and online therapy (CTMH). I love to bring art and other ways of creative expression into my sessions, and draw from theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Somatic Experiencing, Person Centered approach, and Internal Family Systems/Parts Work. I love working with people who are done living in survival mode and are searching for confirmation that there is a way to live life with greater joy and peace.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
It is important for me to provide creative, meaningful and culturally affirming services rooted in evidence based practice. I love when therapy is engaging, rich and meaningful. I am not a therapy robot! You can expect sessions with me to be human-to-human and highly interactive, including music, art, humor, writing, and visuals. In my practice, I am committed to adopting an decolonized approach to mental health care and in our time together you will notice my emphasis on the following: -Appreciation and learner attitude; welcoming the discomfort of stepping out of one's comfort zone -Move gently: allowing things to unfold in their time -Emphasis on the process and experience of the journey -Lean into emotion and embrace the wisdom they hold -Embrace many possibilities, realities and experiences. The limitlessness of your creativity and imagination -Validate the collective nature of our experiences
