Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in New Haven, CT

About My Clients

My ideal client is someone that wants to be an active participant in their treatment. I appreciate working from a collaborative approach where my clinical background is combined with the expert knowledge you have on your own life. I work well with people who are seeking a therapeutic setting that's empathetic and non-judgmental, but one that also includes honesty and good humor every now and then. We need some laughs. Life can be REALLY hard!

My Background and Approach

In the several years I've been in this profession, I'm extremely grateful that I've had the opportunity to work with many different populations. I graduated from UConn in 2018 with my master's in marriage and family therapy. After my master's I worked for a non-profit in Willimantic, CT where I treated those with co-occurring substance use and mental health challenges. In 2019, I my full-time job in Willimantic and went back to UConn for my PhD and also opened a private practice that same year. Throughout my PhD, my research has predominately focused on sexuality and sexual health. Specifically, I research pornography consumption and how it impacts well-being. Currently, I own a private practice where I specialize in sex therapy. I also work with people who faces relationship challenges (whatever that looks like for you) and anxiety that impacts happiness and overall well-being.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My professional experience as a marriage and family therapist has profoundly impacted the way I see the world and how I work with people in therapy. When we're younger, our family/caretakers are the only example we have of what relationships look like and, more generally, how we interact with those around us. As we grow older, we might take some of those values with us or we might choose to develop our own values based on the some of the challenges we faced as children and young adults. I enjoy learning about people's stories as I believe that's a huge part of what impacts who we are today. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I care deeply about helping people who have dealt with family and/or societal discrimination related to their identities. I find that I can provide space where shared experiences exist but also create a novel space to learn about each person's unique story. I truly believe that with the right therapeutic relationship, positive changes happen.
