No two relationships are the same and everyone brings their own unique style to communicating and loving their partner. My goal is to help those styles become sync while keeping the integrity of each person's identity.
Trauma can be anything that has significantly impacted your life in a negative way.
Sexuality and gender are fluid. We may have been raised to believe we are something that we know deep inside we are not. I work with clients find and embrace their true identity
It's never too late to embrace your authentic self. My approach is to help support and encourage you in your journey to finding and accepting your true identity.
My formal training is in DBT, which has four main parts: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. DBT was originally created for those in chronic distress, but the skills can easily translate over to helping those struggling with relationships, stress, depression, trauma and life transitions. While I don't exclusively use DBT in my practice, I often utilize different components of DBT to match my client's needs.
I always try to incorporate humor into my sessions to alleviate stress and help clients find some joy, even for a moment, in their lives.
I come from a Healthy at Every Size approach and encourage balanced eating vs any type of dieting or food restriction. I work with individuals to understand the role of the eating disorder in their life and help them work towards more sustainable coping methods.
I help individuals develop the relationship they want by working through open communication and developing a solid foundation to stay connected. As we are all products of our childhood environment, sometimes we need help shedding old ideas and biases about what a relationship should look like. By acknowledging and and working through these barriers we can get you to the relationship you want to have.
