About My Clients
My areas of speciality are eating disorders and disordered eating, depression, social anxiety, perfectionism, and trauma (including having a loved one with BPD). I work in particular with women exploring queerness and/or bisexuality for the first time. I have a background in astrology and weave it into my work with clients who also resonate with this wisdom tradition.
My Background and Approach
I work with folks who tend to have a loud inner critic, worry they are a bad person or blame themselves when something goes wrong. I work with my clients on discovering how they came to develop their inner critic based on cultural, familial, and societal messaging + systems of oppression. We then explore how they want to relate to themself outside of external pressures and norms. I also work from a somatic perspective. I am really passionate about supporting folks in learning how to connect back to their body. I find this piece is really important in change work. So often, we know one thing and do another. I believe that by forming a relationship to one's body, we can learn how to pause long enough to begin to make new choices for ourselves that align with our most authentic inner self. I am trained in EMDR and mindfulness practices and tend to use either or both in supporting the folks I work with in fostering a connection back to their body.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Healing doesn't happen in a silo, but through developing trusting and caring relationships. I believe the most foundational piece of a successful therapy is the connection you feel with your therapist. At the core of this for me is listening to and honoring how you define yourself and your experiences. I am passionate about doing my own inner work and being in therapy myself. This has been really helpful for me, so that I too have a soft place to land when it comes to feeling into the complicated, messy and beautiful parts of my own experience being a human. If any of this resonates with you, feel free to reach out!
