Hi, I'm Rafe and I'm committed to helping you achieve authenticity and wholeness on your terms.
Psychotherapist in Brooklyn, NY
A mix of talk and music therapy can be an effective treatment for depression as we unlock our bodies, our minds and voices. When depression lingers it often tells the person that it's "always been like this". It attacks memory. Our creative selves push back against that, reclaiming our stories and ultimately ourselves.
Everyone numbs. If ever there was an Age of Numbing this would be it. As a behavior it almost seems normal now. But only you can know if it's a "problem". Feel trapped, stuck on repeat? Does the numbing work less and less? If you're aware you want a change then please honor that awareness right now. Ask for help. You're not stuck and you do not need to give substance abuse anymore days of your life. Something much better awaits you.
Through my own journey and working with others I know the challenges facing those with mixed or complex identities. So many people can't know how the world, even family, is going to treat them at any given moment and it's exhausting. Some of us are fluent in two or more cultures that don't feel compatible. Also exhausting. Increasing your own inner resources will help you find you relief in a world that wants labels on everyone.
I have received post graduate training in AEDP through the AEDP institute.
I have 7 years experience as a music therapist in the New York area. I am licensed and board certified.
