About My Clients
As a parent, do you wonder, "Am I doing this right?" or "Why am I so sad/anxious all the time?" Or maybe you have been trying to have a baby for a long time and things are not going as you'd hoped. Perhaps you've had a loss - or two or three. Maybe the birth of your baby awakened some deep pain inside of you. At FTW we understand the despair and disconnection that often accompanies the reproductive years, and want to hold you with tenderness and wisdom -- and without judgement. We can help!
My Background and Approach
Family Tree Wellness therapists believe that the perinatal period of life is a normal developmental stage. More often than not, parents simply need to be held with compassion and kindness, and in turn, this allows them to be open and vulnerable so they can bond with their babies and remain connected in relationship. We take a non-pathologizing, non-judgemental, client centered approach. All of our therapists are extensively trained in this period of life and some have specialized training in EMDR, Brainspotting, Internal Family Systems, Grief and Loss and Expressive Arts. We also keep an eye on the practical to ensure safety and health. Planning is a big part of mitigating suffering! We are not afraid to laugh and be human. We want to get to know *all* parts of you - not just the mom part. We are always researching, learning and teaching other therapists and caregivers so we can affect reduce stigma surrounding perinatal mental health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
All of us at FTW have our own stories of struggle and resilience on the journey to parenthood. We believe that your experience is unique and what you bring to this life is valued and important. While we all come from different backgrounds and lifestyles, we believe that being in relationship is more fulfilling and connected when you are vulnerable, which is why we all make a point of exploring our own dark corners, often. We laugh a lot in our team meetings, but we also cry a ton! We aim to make the world a better place by holding each person we see in the highest regard, with love and kindness. We are always working on finding ways to serve a broader community, so that anyone who needs help can get it. We are working to break down patriarchal norms that devalue and disrespect us. We want to bring soulfulness back into parenting - and into life! Can you tell we are passionate??
