Therapist in Clayton, MO
I have been working with adolescents since the beginning of my career 20+ years ago. My clinical experience started in 2009 while working in public health, specific to adolescents. Not only have I worked in healthcare system with adolescents, I also have worked in educational systems as a therapist which provide me with incredible experience and understanding of the teenage brain and development. I also provide training to staff on adolescent health and development.
Throughout my career I have focused on the impact of chronic and acute stress on the body and mind. I seek out specialized training that highlights the physical impact as well as the neurological effects of chronic stress. Additionally, my formal coach training provided instruction from physicians and clinicians to provide the biological and emotional impact. Not only do I have a solid understanding of stress, I am also equipped with a plethora of strategies to address it.
Coaching has been a part of my treatment intervention since 2014 after completing a 2 year formal program with the Anthropedia Foundation. During the program, I learned how to incorporate strategies that increased a sense of satisfaction and well-being into the therapeutic process. In addition to the formal training, I receive supervision and consultation as needed.
I received formal training through a 2 year program in health and well-being. The strategies and interventions I learned focused on increasing health and vitality related to chronic stress, compassion fatigue, and burnout. Additionally, my experiences for the past 20 + years have enabled me to apply theoretical knowledge with practical experiences in a variety of settings including healthcare, education, and administration.
My clinical practice has centered around adolescent health since 2009. Some of my specialized training includes trauma-focused CBT, mindfulness for teens, and the teenage brain. Additionally, I have practiced in both medical and educational systems working with teens which has provided a tremendous understanding of adolescent development and related mental health.
