About My Clients
You are your harshest critic. You feel self-doubt, insecurity and you sometimes withdraw from doing the things you enjoy. Your feelings of depression, anxiety or memories of past traumas are sapping the life out of you. Currently or in the past, you may have turned to maladaptive coping behaviors (eating disorders, substance use, self-harm, anger, avoidance, etc.) to subdue the experience.
My Background and Approach
Using an individualized framework, we’ll use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Radically Open DBT, somatic or psychodynamic approaches to bring awareness to parts of yourself that need healing and compassion, build insight and implement practical coping strategies. Mind-body techniques will allow us to resolve trauma, manage emotions and address your inner critic so that you may shift your internal and external experiences. If you are struggling with an eating disorder, we will utilize a HAES (Health At Every Size) aligned approach. Depending on severity, it may be necessary for me to coordinate with other providers on your outpatient treatment team, such as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe every person has the inherent wisdom needed to live a fulfilling life. Sometimes we just need help connecting to those parts of ourselves. Behavior serves a purpose, which means the things we say and do are an attempt to get our needs met. Oftentimes, these behaviors that once worked are no longer effective in new relationships and environments. I believe that with effective therapy, every person has the capability, strength and resilience to overcome adversity, develop a support network and build their life worth living.
