Couples session begins with an assessment, which consist of 4 sessions: one collaborative session with both parties, two individual sessions to learn about each partner and their individual story, needs, desires and experiences, and a fourth session, to discuss specific treatment recommendations, and to develop a plan.

PTSD is treatable disorder and recovery is possible. In trauma therapy, we will work on enhancing coping skills, processing the traumatic experiences and working towards addressing symptoms, such as avoidance, anxiety, emotional numbness, irritability, and lack of motivation. We will utilize evidence based therapies like Prolonged Exposure (PE) or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to improve your quality of life.

The first 3-4 Sessions are personalized to meet your unique treatment needs and goals. For individual therapy, a client can expect to spend 60-75 minutes in the initial session. This provides an opportunity for the therapist to learn about the reasons for seeking service, obtain historical information and begin the process of exploring possible treatment goals. I consider myself to be an emotion informed behavioral therapist. I utilize a variety of interventions and tools to bring forth awareness, education, insight and encourage change, as needed for clients who seek a deeper understanding of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors and how their past may be influencing their present and future in harmful ways. Clients will likely experience an improvement with their self-esteem, self-love as well as, healthy relationships with self and others.

As a couples therapist, I enjoy working with couples in a variety of life spaces, including pre-marital therapy, working with clients who are dealing with life transitions, assisting couples who've experienced infidelity, communication and/or intimacy issues. Our work together will focus on learning more about the history of the relationship, your individual life experiences and past relationships, and how the past may be impacting the current relationship.

CBT focuses on challenging and changing unhelpful cognitive distortions and behaviors, improving emotional regulation, and the development of personal coping strategies that target solving current problems.

Pre-marital therapy is a great way to explore past and current experiences, and hopes and aspirations for the future. This a great opportunity to explore values, beliefs, culture, family dynamics and other areas that may impact the relationship and future planning.

Our time together will focus on bringing awareness, education, insight, and deeper understanding of your goals, needs and desires.
