Licensed Professional Counselor in Bethesda, MD
I support clients in exploring the ways societal and cultural norms and expectations for women impact their mental and physical health and provide practical tools for increasing self-compassion, healthy boundary-setting, self-care, and self-acceptance.
Humans do not like change! Even when a transition is very much desired, it brings up difficult thoughts and feelings. And those transitions which are unwanted are even more painful. I support clients in coping effectively with the challenges of life changes and provide skills to use in everyday life to increase their ability to stay present and focused on what truly matters regardless of what is happening.
Anxiety is part of the human condition and is our body's way of trying to keep us safe! Sometimes this "helpfulness" can go overboard though and impair your ability to function fully and meaningfully in your life. I teach clients practical skills to increase understanding of their emotions and harness the "helpful" aspects of their anxiety and let go of what no longer serves them.
I have engaged in in-person and online immersive trainings in ACT and continue to engage in regular consultation with other ACT-informed professionals and attend regular trainings.
I utilize Inference-based CBT (ICBT) to work with clients experiencing OCD, which is an evidence-based treatment created specifically for working with OCD. For individuals who haven't had success with ERP or other approaches treating OCD, ICBT may be a step towards better management of their symptoms.
I collaborate with clients to learn practical strategies to make life less overwhelming and take advantage of strengths they possess with their neurodivergent brains. I also teach self-compassion skills and utilize mindfulness-based approaches to help clients manage ADHD symptoms.
