About My Clients
My ideal client is someone who is motivated to put in the work for healing both during therapy and outside of our sessions together. At a baseline, I practice from a person-centered approach; I am here to support and guide clients to their full potential rather than give direct answers. Usually, you know what's best for you, and I'm here to offer the tools and nonjudgmental environment to find that.
My Background and Approach
Growing up as a quiet child, I learned how to observe and listen, and I realized that I loved learning about other people’s stories. Eventually, I noticed that my friends and family began coming to me for a safe space to share their experiences and things in their lives that they were struggling with. My own history with trauma has given me a deeper empathy and capacity for compassion toward others experiencing similar situations. At first, I wasn’t sure that I wanted my therapy focus to be on trauma. However, after working with clients who faced severe traumas in the workplace as well as families with loved ones in critical care, I knew that I needed to. Becoming trained in EMDR and integrating this with internal family systems has really expanded the ways that I can assist my clients with their trauma and help them find healing within themselves, whether their trauma is chronic or acute.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value empathy, compassion, and understanding in my personal life as well as in my practice as a therapist. Many of us never experienced these behaviors growing up, and they are essential for healing in the therapeutic relationship. Everything that we are exposed to in our lives, for better or worse, shapes who we become. Understanding this can help us learn more about ourselves and provides us with the capacity to heal.
