Depression has underlying, unconscious reasons for its existence. Together, we will figure out the root causes and bring about your innate capacity to heal. I have over ten years of experience working with folks who have struggled with depression. Oftentimes, depression is about unresolved grieving and anger turned towards the self. Therapy provides a path to properly mourn what's been lost and release anger that's been held in for too long.
Grieving is a normal, necessary process that makes us human. We grieve because we’re attached. We love. We grieve. It measures the depth and intensity of our attachment and love for people, places, experiences, and other living beings. Therapy can provide a space for you to grieve. Our work together won’t be about forgetting or replacing what was lost. We will help you experience and be able to feel the full extent of your loss for the purpose of healing.
Anxiety is a signal. It is communication from the unconscious. Anxiety is but a cover for deeper, unresolved thoughts and feelings. Therapy that address the root causes of anxiety means exploring what may be hidden or outside of your awareness. In our work together, we will create space for you to speak freely and say the things that are the most difficult to say out loud. Over time, with greater you may find the anxiety has lessened and no longer holds you captive.

I’ve been practicing meditation since 2002 when I was drawn to Buddhist teachings on kindness and compassion. My decades of practice provide a strong foundation for me to help you integrate mindfulness into your life. Our work together will include: attuning to physical sensations; slowing down and pausing in order to build tolerance for discomfort; self-compassion practices; noticing the role of the “inner critic”; recognizing and challenging unhelpful thought patterns.
Psychodynamic therapy allows us to honor the complexity and be deeply curious about your human experience. The full range of your thoughts and feelings are welcomed with openness and interest. Our goal is to holistically address the root causes of your suffering so that you experience deep and lasting transformation that continues even after the therapy is over. Psychodynamic therapy acknowledges the role of the unconscious in our lives and provides a way for you to understand your own mind.
