About My Clients

Half of my clients are in entertainment--writers, actors, and musicians. While some struggle with the inconsistency of the work, many are traversing being in the public eye while also working through their personal issues. A quarter of my clients are orthodox Jews, who come to me because I am both familiar with the world, while also not being a part of the community. And the other quarter of my clients are very diverse, with my focus being on anxiety, depression and addiction issues.

My Background and Approach

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, where I contributed to research and conducted studies in England measuring children’s abilities to identify emotions in facial expressions. I moved to LA, where I spent twenty years working as an actor and writer. I am very familiar with the unique challenges of working in the entertainment industry, and many of my clients work in TV and film. I received my Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in LA, and did my training at Beit T’Shuvah, an inpatient addiction facility. I worked with a variety of clients--some coming from a life of privilege; others who are transitioning out of the criminal justice system. I also worked at Creative Care, an inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation facility specializing in co-occurring disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar, and borderline personality. I currently work with individuals, couples, and groups in private practice at Menachem Psychotherapy Group.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I love the work I do–it’s challenging, it’s intimate, and it’s rewarding. I’m a trained therapist who believes in being an authentic human in the room. The therapeutic space I create is such a unique, safe, and special place for my clients and me, and it allows for deep work to happen. I think it is important for therapists to bring their humanity in the room, and while I take the work seriously, it is okay to sometimes laugh at ourselves. I work with clients from a place of curiosity and empathy, and occasionally use humor as a teaching tool and modeling for a healthy coping mechanism. My goal is to help you understand your history, recognize patterns in your life, resolve your inner conflicts, and live authentically.
