I work from the understanding that every thought, emotion, and behavior makes sense when you trace it back to your core beliefs. Spiraling thoughts and feelings like, "I will never be enough" and "I just feel guilty all the time" makes sense if you grew up in an environment where the message was you're not enough unless you achieve, appease, and behave. My approach is to pay attention to the specific words you use to describe your experiences as they shape how you interpret yourself and your relationships. Making sense of your needs starts with clarity in the way you can speak about your story. Therapy with me means putting a lie to rigid and oppressive conclusions you've made because, at one point, they were useful in protecting you, but they no longer serve you.
I work from Internal Family systems, Cognitive-Behavioral, and Strength-based approaches.
