My work with children, families and individuals is guided by a desire to access alternative ways to communicate our deepest inner wisdom.

Sandplay Therapy facilitates opportunities to access the wisdom of psyche in the pursuit of healing. The client uses miniature figures and objects to create a story or image in a tray of sand. This image can be a powerful fool for accessing unconscious resources and revealing unknown layers of emotion and insight. Even as children experience this as play the psyches natural capacity for healing is activated as preverbal and unconscious elements of our inner lives are revealed.
Expressive Art Therapy encompasses a wide range of tools and mediums used in the therapeutic process. I make available a wide variety of play and art materials that encourage both nonverbal and verbal expression. Children and adults are encourage to follow their inclination towards art, play, or sandplay figures. While following a calling toward an object or activity, we access our inner wisdom expressed through marks on paper, figures in the sand or body movement and stories.
I have devoted a great deal of my personal and professional life to anti-bias and anti-racist efforts. My doctoral work focused on understanding the cultural perspectives and values of African refugees that contributed to their sense of well-being, healing, and capacity to adapt to life in the U.S. I was challenged to approach issues of diversity, oppression, collective trauma and resilience with humility and compassion. I have worked closely with immigrant organizations and families.
