About My Clients
Are you feeling stuck in any are of your life? Does it feel like nothing you have tried has worked for you? Are you struggling with unexplained mental health issues? Have you tried to solve the problems in your life on your own and realized you need help from someone else? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and I have been working in the mental health field in various capacities for 17 years. My approach to therapy is neuroscience informed which includes polyvagal theory and addressing trauma in all forms. Neuroscience informed therapy connects complicated brain research with therapeutic strategies for anxiety, depression and trauma. Polyvagal theory emphasizes the importance of our physiological state in the expression of behavioral problems and psychiatric disorders. I use evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral therapy for anxiety and depression, Cognitive Processing therapy for trauma and mindfulness-based therapy to address where and how individuals are stuck without pathologizing their condition. I include some education on nutrition and basic physical wellness, as this is intricately tied to mental health.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a clinician, I cannot guarantee a specific outcome for a client. I can simply build on prior experience and science and offer the best possible steps that have a high likelihood of helping. Every person is unique; with their own history, inclinations and being in the world (Dan Siegal). We can remain open to the diverse ways in which a person can respond.
