About My Clients
As a trauma-informed practitioner, I work with adult survivors of sexual abuse, domestic violence, childhood trauma, and community-based violence. I also work with individuals living with anxiety, depression, and a history of mental health struggles. I love working with clients who are ready to tap into the power of movement and the body for healing. If you have had healing experiences with dance, yoga, meditation, or other types of movement and creativity, we might be a good fit!
My Background and Approach
I bring an embodied and creative approach to psychotherapy that is influenced by my experience as a movement analyst, dancer, and choreographer. I specialize in body-based approaches to coping with trauma, depression, anxiety, and more. I love teaching clients about how our bodies work to heal trauma and other emotional wounds, incorporating both talk therapy and body-based coping skills in a person-centered approach to help you find a sense of wholeness and groundedness. I also integrate creativity, dance, and movement into the healing process for self-expression and creative problem-solving. My goal is to support you in finding healing and wholeness by connecting to your body and learning to be present in the moment with your experience. This empowers you to take ownership of your whole self and initiate change and growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am first and foremost a trauma-informed therapist. But my understanding of trauma is not limited to incidents such as abuse, assault, or injury. While it is certainly important to address those types of trauma in therapy, I believe that oppression of any form is traumatic. My goal is to hold space for you to acknowledge and process traumas based on microaggression, discrimination, or marginalization, and to call on the beauty and strength of your identities and communities. As a therapist fluent in American Sign Language, I work extensively with the Deaf community. I am passionate about working with Deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals in a way that respects their culture. I value centering Deaf experiences and strive to be a hearing ally and advocate for Deaf and disability justice.
