About My Clients

You’re not sure why you feel so anxious and overwhelmed because things are going well on paper. You often feel drained and alone, even when you’re with others. It's terrifying to think that you could always feel this way. Maybe you can’t shake the feeling that you’re very far off from where you’d like to be even though you’ve worked hard to get to where you are now. Either way, you know that something needs to change. You’ve taken an important step already by beginning to look for help.

My Background and Approach

I can help you figure out what’s really going on. There is a reason you’re struggling right now and I want to uncover it with you. In a safe and compassionate space, I’ll help you shed light on your discontent so that you don’t have to feel so confused and alone any more. My approach to therapy is relational and integrative, meaning that I place a lot of emphasis on understanding your inner experience and I draw from a couple different approaches depending upon the issues you bring to therapy. In sessions this looks like focusing on what happens in your everyday interactions with others that leave you feeling anxious or alone and exploring how these feelings might be related to important early relationships. With empathy and respect, I can help you identify coping strategies which may have been essential in the past but may no longer be necessary. Together we can explore new strategies, tools, and perspectives to help you find more freedom and relief.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that overcoming mental health issues and healing from trauma shouldn't mean accepting that the problem is located inside you. Our sense of who we are and what we're worth is developed in a social, familial, and political context, as well as our sense of what others expect from us and how they respond to us. I believe that for many people, healing means acknowledging the ways that we’ve been harmed by oppressive structures and realizing that we are not what we’ve been told about ourselves. I’m a San Francisco resident of 13 years who’s deeply inspired by the creative and radically inclusive spirit of this city. If you want to know more about how I can help, send me a message or visit my website. I look forward to working with you!
