Hi! I'm Stephanie. I bring passion and sincerity, patience and wisdom to our relationship and I’m committed to you and your goals.
Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Hillsborough, NC
I work largely with high-functioning professionals looking to manage the demands of their careers, relationships, and other things life brings our way. Whether you are a working parent, navigating a challenging work environment, or hoping to acquire skills for coping or achieving more balance, I've got you. I'll help you identify the changes you'd like to make in order to achieve more fulfillment and a meaningful existence.
If you are experiencing panic attacks or anxiety (physical or cognitive symptoms), therapy is a great place to gain clarity and feel confident in your ability to manage these experiences. I equip my clients with greater psychological insight into the sources or triggers of anxiety and panic attacks, neurobiological understanding of their own bodies, and tangible skills for regulating anxiety in the moment. I use psychodynamic therapy along with CBT and mindfulness/somatic approaches in our work.
My background is in working in residential and outpatient treatment settings that help individuals and families recover from various addictions and associated difficulties, such as trauma, grief, codependency, and relationship problems. Seeing my clients recover and live their lives in a way that aligns with their own personal values is the greatest privilege of my career. If you are sober-curious or simply want to better understand or moderate your alcohol use- we can do that work together!
Using a psychodynamic approach in therapy, I will listen for how your developmental experiences inform the person you are today. We'll explore how this insight can make way for behavioral change, as well as how we can acknowledge your inherent strengths and gifts.
My background in recovery and work in a treatment setting has given me thorough knowledge and appreciation for using a family systems approach in therapy. This means I will understand you through the lens of the family you come from, how those roles, messages, rules, and experiences have helped to shape who you are, your relationships, and how to facilitate healing in these areas.
I have over 40 hours of training and ongoing consultation and education in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). EMDR is an extensively researched therapy modality most often used to assist with decreasing PTSD symptoms or other emotionally disturbing memories.
