About My Clients
My clients are amazing. They overcome symptoms of anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, chronic childhood stress, & low self-esteem every day. They learn to manage their ADHD, day-to-day stress, employment barriers, and all the changes life always brings, in healthy, self-affirming ways. I use a healing approach and we start working right away to get you to make progress, feel better, and move to the end of therapy!
My Background and Approach
I love the brain- and I believe if we understand the brain better, we can manage it well when it takes us on a wild ride. In sessions we will work together to understand your experiences, how & why your brain (and nervous system) is responding to these, and then design coping/management techniques that work for you in your life and often can lead to "remission". I also believe healing is about a holistic approach so while we are sorting out how your beautiful brain works best; we'll discover ways to improve your overall well-being. You can learn to use your strengths to overcome the barriers so you can be the best possible version of yourself.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
People are capable and brilliant. I know change can be hard and almost everyone I meet can do hard things; even learning how to think new thoughts and stay present in their lives during times of distress. I have been on a therapeutic journey myself and I absolutely know how hard it can be to reach out when things are dark. It can be scary to let someone you hardly know into your secret & soft spaces - it may feel impossible. With me, you set the pace. I will do my best to create a safe space and we will work on things as you're ready. I affirm the "if it's not broken, don't fix it" idea, even in therapy. Please know I don't believe in perfection; I think it is bologna! In my own life, and in the therapeutic relationship I focus on progress. It may sound cheesy, but I do believe it’s the journey that matters.
