About My Clients
Sometimes you feel so down that things seem hopeless, and sometimes you’re so anxious you can’t even rest. You’ve already tried on your own to solve your problems, but insight alone isn’t shifting things. You speak to yourself unkindly, which doesn’t help. You want to have fewer ups and downs, or maybe you’re wanting to change a relationship that your friends say is toxic. At this point, you’re ready to try something new.
My Background and Approach
When we work together, I’ll approach things with compassion to help you shift your insight into action. I will guide you in shifting your relationship with yourself from one of harsh criticism to one based in flexibility and kindness. I often start with the basics: sleep, rest, grounding, nourishment - always with the intention to feel better, not to meet some external criteria or have an aesthetic influencer routine. I suggest things to experiment with, rather than giving canned or rigid advice. We may also work on having better relationships, being less mean to yourself, and getting off the emotional rollercoaster. When we work together, you’ll be in the driver’s seat, and I’ll be in the passenger seat, helping you navigate your way to feeling better. I offer telehealth in NJ, PA, and WI, and also offer in-person sessions in Madison, WI.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My graduate degree is in Clinical Social Work, and I share with social work the core values of social justice, collaboration, and acceptance. These influence my work as a therapist in that I consistently work to examine and break down my own biases, examine my White privilege, and to advocate for underprivileged groups. Additionally, I take a collaborative and nonjudgmental approach to help you figure out what you want and then how to work towards it. I have experience working with people who identify as trans, who are sex workers, and who are engaging in consensual non-monogamy.
