About My Clients

Many of my clients are attracted to walking sessions for a variety of reasons. Some find that talking while walking facilitates clearer thinking or broader perspectives on whatever issues are occupying their minds. Others feel that walking helps them get "unstuck," see more possibilities, and make progress toward their goals. Many people simply appreciate the chance to connect with the natural world while working through the challenges in their daily lives.

My Background and Approach

My specialization in "walk and talk" therapy provides an opportunity to take therapy off the couch and into the outdoors. Walking, especially in nature, can help alleviate depression and anxiety while facilitating clearer thinking, broader perspectives, and an overall sense of well-being. Recent studies have shown that walking effectively counters stress, increases energy and motivation, improves self-image, helps dissipate negative states of mind, improves sleep, and reduces anxiety and depression. In fact, for some people walking can be more effective than antidepressants in improving their overall mood. At the same time, walking — a "bilateral therapy" — engages both sides of the brain for optimal function and heightened creativity.
