Adolescence can be filled with excitement and lots to figure out. From who you are, who you want to be, and everything in between; it can be stressful. Feelings of depression, anxiety, and disconnection can arise related to relationships with others and yourself, body image issues, sexuality, gender, relationships, and family dynamics. I help older kids, teens and young adults explore and navigate these issues.
Kids are so fun and difficult to figure out. They can have "big feelings" and responses that confuse us adults. I have extensive experience with Play Therapy. Play is the language of kids and helps them identify and express their feelings, regulate emotions, learn new skills, and process current and past feelings. Whether experiencing parent separation, loss, anger, anxiety, school stress, or disconnection; play can help. I also use books, art, narrative therapy, and skill building.
Parenting can be overwhelming! Sometimes no matter what you do it doesn't feel like enough. Therapy can help you feel heard and understood. Together we will come up with a plan to provide support, coaching, and strategies to increase feelings of connection and decrease conflict. I am trained in Positive Discipline and Collaborative Problem Solving.
