My Background and Approach
As a former athlete, I have personally experienced the transformative benefits of sports, which have significantly shaped me into the professional I am today. This firsthand understanding of the physical and psychological demands of athletic life informs my approach to counseling, allowing me to connect deeply with my clients and offer tailored support. Additionally, my experience working at an emergency psychiatric hospital and a residential eating disorder clinic has equipped me to handle severe mental health crises. I also integrate trauma-informed care into my practice, ensuring that I provide a safe and supportive environment for all my clients. I often use strength-based therapy, visualization/mindfulness, and CBT to assist clients in gaining confidence on the playing field. During sessions my clients explore how their thoughts can interfere with them being present in the moment. In sessions we recognize the thoughts inhibiting us and create new believes to empower us.
