About My Clients
My passion is helping individuals and families heal from painful past learning that is causing distress and dysfunction in the here and now. I have experience helping people who present with a variety of struggles, such as: trauma, anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self-esteem issues, parenting, relational/communication issues, setting boundaries, maladaptive behaviors, and relationship challenges. I work with adolescents, adults, and couples.
My Background and Approach
I knew that I wanted to be a therapist since I was 17 years old. This was because I experienced a lot of challenges and dysfunction myself in my own family system. I have worked hard through the years to understand these issues and to process through my own challenges. I can relate to others in similar situations, which is why I have such a passion for doing the work I do. I also use a variety of techniques including Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Client Centered Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Post Induction Therapy for trauma and relationship issues. The premise of Post Induction Therapy is that childhood trauma (defined as anything less than nurturing) is the origin of developmental immaturity.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I think the relationship between a therapist and their client is the biggest indicator of success, therefore, I focus on building a strong rapport with my clients, making sure the client knows they are supported and validated. I am here to walk this journey with you, to be a guide and a support. This is your therapy, and so my focus is on what you need and want and not my agenda. I hope that you will feel heard and respected. I am deeply passionate about what I do. I practice from a trauma-informed lens, which means I approach therapy with a sense of curiosity. I want to know more about what happened to you that contributed to the issues that you are currently struggling with. I work to maintain a safe and supportive therapeutic environment for my clients. Though processing and healing from painful past experiences can be daunting, clients will often experience a truly remarkable shift in emotions, behaviors, and thoughts by the end of the process.
