About My Clients
Are you struggling with managing your stress? Experiencing painful thoughts and/or emotions? Facing up to a painful past in order to move forward? Experiencing a medical or relationship concern? I specialize in helping people with anxiety (including obsessive-compulsive disorder), depression, post-traumatic stress disorder/PTSD; gay, lesbian and bisexual concerns; and those facing relationship issues, chronic illness or grief and life transition issues.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive training & experience over a career of 17 years (and graduated at the top of my class and field). I'm trained in a broad-based and integrative approach to therapy (using various evidence-based methods to help my clients face life's most complex challenges as invitations to grow). I have a strong level of empathy for all of my clients and see them as heroes of their own story. I listen to, understand, appreciate, and respect my clients; while always holding a positive view of them, despite any of their circumstances. I work with clients together in a judgment and shame-free zone. I believe that most, if not all, of us do the best with what we know, and yet at times life presents challenges that are beyond our current skills set and resources. There are times in all of our lives when everyone can benefit from a listening ear and a helping hand. You can learn more at my website here: https://www.timothyweymann.com/about-me/
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in human potential, and that given the right circumstances people's inclination is towards growth. My values include: kindness and compassion, honesty, assertiveness, determination, hard-work, responsibility and humor. I was heavily trained in a research-based model of practice and have been a research analyst and program evaluator (assessing and teaching clinicians on how to engage in effective treatment with clients). This means that I heavily value the role of research with my clients (I'm up-to-date and thoroughly aware of what the science says helps people with facing various problems and challenges); and apply this in my work with people holding various identities and facing different problems. I have a broad background & my niche experience includes: mental health outpatient treatment, addiction recovery, the adult and juvenile criminal justice systems, the LGBT population, those experiencing chronic illness, & those questioning & leaving fundamentalist religion.
