About My Clients
My clients strive towards health and carry with them a set of strengths. Many are therapists themselves, young adults transitioning to independence, dealing with issues of identity and sexuality, or adults dealing with the longterm negative impacts of childhood or trauma. They come to relieve symptoms of pain, distress and self-defeating behaviors. Together we draw upon their strengths and endeavor to build even more. Ideally, therapy ends with increased joy, self awareness, and confidence.
My Background and Approach
Over the past almost 30 years, I have had experience treating a variety of issues, including depression, substance abuse, anxiety, life transitions, and trauma. I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, and residential settings, and mental health and substance abuse settings, in addition to my private practice. My therapeutic approach blends EMDR with an attachment focused and trauma informed lens while specializing in: *Managing difficult emotions such as depression, grief, anxiety and anger. *Life transitions such as birth, death, marriage, divorce, relocation, and professional changes. *Family of origin Issues such as shame, lack of self-confidence, fear, and low self-esteem. *Gaining greater self-awareness. *Moving beyond self-limiting beliefs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I entered this world and was raised with significant priviledge, in ways I'm sure I haven't even realized. EVERYONE deserves the right to be nourished, to grow and change, and make mistakes, and love, heal, and learn, and worship or not. We all have the right to feel good about who we are, the bodies that house us on this trip, the people we love and who love us. None of us is without flaw and none of us is without value. My hope is to nurture love and growth and change through my relationships with my clients, because ultimately, it is through relationship that we heal.
