Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the states of Texas and Colorado.
Clinical Social Worker in Austin, TX
I have experience working with eating disorders at the outpatient, IOP, and PHP levels of care and I am well connected to community resources, so I can help you set up a treatment team and get the help you need. I'm a member of Central Texas Eating Disorder Specialists and the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. When working with eating disorders, I am conscientious not only of your relationship with food and your body, but also the way that your disordered eating impacts the support people in your life, your relationship with substances such as alcohol or pain meds, and your romantic relationships. I see clients with all sorts of unwanted food behaviors, including restriction, bingeing, purging, food avoidance, overexercise, and obsessively healthy choices.
I often work with family systems in which one person is struggling with depression, anxiety, or an eating disorder. My hope is that we can help you identify effective ways to interact with each other, even if you've established long-term roles or unhelpful dynamics. I'm trained in Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy, Emotion-Focused Family Therapy, and the Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy.
I work with teenagers and adults who use all sorts of behaviors to try to feel better, even when they know those behaviors are hurtful to themselves or others, or aren't in line with their values. I have worked with self-harm, thoughts of suicide, and emotional dysregulation in inpatient and outpatient settings. I rely on behavioral and emotional strategies to help you understand why you're using these behaviors and what to do instead.
