About My Clients
My clients are children, adolescents and young adults who struggle with poor organizational skills. They experience difficulty in maintaining focus and concentration on tasks they do not find exciting and difficulty with emotional management. Children and adolescents who struggle with these symptoms habitually experience poor to failing grades at school, disciplinary issues at school and sometimes at home, and relationship conflicts with peers and family members.
My Background and Approach
I am a psychotherapist and professional life coach with over 21 years of experience and over 13 years in private practice. I have a Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Tarleton State University and a Bachelors in Psychology from Warren Wilson College. My therapeutic career started out in a Texas state run residential program for adolescents. I then worked at two other therapeutic programs in Arizona, the latter of which was a private therapeutic boarding school, where I served as an assistant clinical director. In my private practice I work primarily with children, adolescents and young adults. I take a solutions focused approach in helping clients move past their struggles and achieve their long term goals and objectives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I don't believe I or anyone has to ability to change anyone's mind. When people seek out therapeutic or coaching services, on some level they are already going through a transitional process in their mindset and seeking the help of a professional to steer them in the right direction. With this being written, I believe we are our own prisoners and consequently, our own liberators. Regardless of what hardships or traumas we have experienced in our lives at the hands of other people, focusing on how others should treat us, is a waste of time. We have the ability within ourselves to adopt healthy attitudes and mindsets to create the lives we want for ourselves.
